A groundbreaking for the Le Setai special event space, to be located at the former Gasho of Japan restaurant in Hawthorne at 6 Saw Mill River Rd. (Route 9A), will be held on Thursday, Aug. 15 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The event space will be the latest use of the former Gasho building, which was made to resemble a 16th-century "samurai farmhouse" and housed the restaurant for more than 45 years, according to developers.

The "resort-like" space will feature a grand ballroom with a skylight; floor-to-ceiling windows and French double doors; and landscaped gardens boasting natural waterfalls and a Koi Pond.

The property will also feature a glass walking bridge, a ceremony platform, and an outdoor tiki bar and cabana.

Although the 2.8-acre estate will see some major changes, the top peak of the old Gasho building will remain intact, albeit with a "major facelift," developers said.

The events space is expected to open in Fall 2025.
